I know bodybuilding works to build confidence for one simple reason: When I do not bodybuild I feel weak and timid, when I do bodybuilding I feel strong and confident.
That is about as simple as it gets.
When you do a thing and it makes you feel great and like a better person why would you not do it?
So let’s look at this a little bit deeper and discover why it does this.
You Have Accomplished Being Healthy
Just knowing that you are doing something to make yourself healthy can make you feel more confident.
In the world today there are many, many people that are sick and unhealthy. They go around eating junk all day and just not caring about how they look.
When you go to the gym, workout and eat good food it gives you a sense of accomplishing something awesome.
Just imagine being a person that does not go to the gym and eats junk all day long. Imagine how you would feel after a year. You would feel terrible and unaccomplished.
Now imagine going to the gym multiple times a week and eating good food three times a day. I imagine after a year you would feel magnificent, like a million bucks.
All it took was going to the gym and eating good food. You feel good, look good and you accomplished something worthwhile.
Being healthy has increased your confidence.
An Increase In Focus
Bodybuilding gives you an increase in focus by giving you a singular focus on your mission. Focusing on your mission in the gym and getting closer to your goals helps build confidence.
This increase in focus also helps you to focus on other areas in your life as well.
Imagine focusing completely on building a great physique and than actually accomplishing this physique. You will realize how great that feeling of focusing on your mission of building a great physique is.
Now you will love the feeling it gave you and will apply it to other areas of your life, like creating a business.
The Power Of Strength
This is a big one for me.
Going into the gym and lifting big weights that used to make you crumble and doing it with ease is very empowering.
Having that confidence in one area of your life carries over into other areas of your life as well.
I have times where I have not went to the gym for a couple months and gone back to weights that I could easily pick up but are now difficult. This brings a defeatest mentality and one that can be regained through hard work hitting those weights and building up that strength again.
With it comes a surge in confidence.
Oxygen For The Brain
Working out also increases blood and oxygen flow through the brain. You get a great surge of energy in the brain that also increases seratonin levels, which make you feel good.
Your ability to think will be clearer and more focused.
Some say that the best exercise for the brain is when you exercise your body. It works so well together and gives you a balanced feeling of feeling great mentally and physically.
Self-Image Is Increased
And perhaps the top reason bodybuilding increases confidence is that you see yourself in a more positive way.
How you see yourself is how you think others see you as well.
I do not like to see myself as a skinny person so when I build muscle I naturally feel more confident.
Testosterone Is Increased
Having an increase in testosterone comes naturally when you lift heavy shit.
With testosterone comes a natural increase in confidence.
